Christmas came early: MSI GTX 560 TI HAWK

Well, Christmas came early for me, with a little luck... Santa brought me an MSI N560GTX-TI HAWK GPU, which boasts an awesome Twin Frozr-III cooled nVidia GTX 560 TI GPU running at 822/950 MHz, and a whooping 1GB of DDR5 DRAM running at 4000/4200 MHz.

Since I have a middle tower case, I had to move a hard drive one slot downwards, since this card is a little longer than my previous one (GTX 460 OC).

Well, enough talk, there's more to come, like a hexa-core CPU, a new motherboard and some new DDR3 ram, but that is in the forseeable future, when I manage to sell my old GPU. Any takers?

Restarting: World of Warcraft

Well, there isn't much more to say. I've decided to take a break from a hectic life, and while at it, restart playing World of Warcraft.

Bon Jovi "The Circle" Live Tour - Bucharest, Romania, 10.07.2011

When I got home from work on Saturday morning, I was anxious to get on the train already. I've slept for like two-three hours in the afternoon, just to be able to sleep on the bus to Bucharest. The night came, and I've started walking to the train station with my sister. It was a hot summer night (cheesy, huh?). Arriving in Timisoara, I've started my GPS and we made our way to the other train station, where we were supposed to have our bus ready in two hours. We made it in under one hour, then waited another two for the bus. The bus was almost full, and everyone was waiting to get to the concert, to see Bon Jovi for the first time in Romania.

After arriving in Bucharest, we were slapped in the face by the heat and the size of everything "concert". The organization was like crap, of course, Romania. They didn't let people in who had "cameras that had movie making capabilities", though the rules stated clearly "no professional cameras with interchangeable lens allowed, like DSLR's, and no camcorders". The morons that were by the gate frisking people didn't know that, and my sister's been refused entry because she had a Nikon Coolpix L100 camera, that, they thought, was a "professional camera". I was near the stage already when my sister called me to tell me the problems. I left the stage area and got out, taking the camera, and allowing her safe passage. After a half hour of arguing with the morons, in which they told me to "leave the camera with a friend", or "go home, they don't care", they finally told me to throw the batteries out and they'll allow me entrance. I went out of their line of sight, stuck the accu's in my shoes, and got in without a problem. Talk about Romanian Security services. Fail.

I managed to grab a nice spot near the stage, right next to the fence. My sister had a good spot too, but, with all the problems that arose, she managed to get her hands on a Diamond Circle wrist-strap, and she got in front of the stage, inside the semi-circle.

After two fail bands that opened the concert, Bon Jovi entered the stage at 20:00 GMT+2, and never left for 3 hours. After starting the concert, the atmosphere was on fire. Everyone was shouting, singing and having a good time. The band delivered, and everyone was delighted to have been a part of such a beautiful and awesome concert.

Bound by Ink

Today, I got my first tattoo.

It's a nice little medallion that someone forgot at my place, and I've been looking at it as a potential tattoo for quite some time, I just haven't said anything. And yesterday, after much consideration, I decided to go ahead with the plan, and get it inked.



The location was my first thing to consider. I had some options, but I opted for my inferior interior forearm, near the palm joint. The size of the tattoo was the second thing to consider, since the medallion is quite small. I've made it approximately two times bigger.

After selecting the placement and the size, I had to decide on the style. I decided it was best to be pure black, no shadows, no fancy things. I let my friend draw the outline, then slowly apply it to my inner forearm. After the outline was drawn, the filling started.



Let me tell you, joints hurt to be tattooed. At least, it hurt me. But it was bearable. And within 45 minutes (small needle) I was done. I will have to let it heal and re-ink it in three weeks. After that, it'll look even better.

Here's the final result. It will heal, it will be re-drawn a second time, and it will look wicked! I'm very content and happy with my decision, and I couldn't regret it even if I wanted to.

Demons (Part Deux)

Another day has passed since I've poured my heart out onto this blog. So many questions have been asked, yet so little answers are here. Everything I stand - or stood - for, has been challenged. Everything I ever wanted was for things to be ok. But, as I said, my inner demons won't let that happen. Not yet.

I was on the virge of making another mistake today. It's not important what the mistake was, what is important is that I realized it in time and stopped it from happening. Even though it may have already been to late when I stopped it, it was not. And the world - my world - was a better place, for a minute.

The main thing is that I need to repel these urges to act wrecklessly, and I need to learn to think before acting. This process can prove difficult, since I always shot first, and asked questions later. But the good outweighs the bad. Thinking before doing, even for a little moment, could really tilt the odds in my favor. And I am not talking about the love of my life here. I am talking about life in general, about interactions and socialization. Every action has a repercussion, and, as the seriousness of the action grows upwards, the repercussions create a ripple effect, having repercussions of their own. Not thinking and just acting creates the biggest disasters, with the biggest ripples. Looking back at the weekend that just passed, I realize now what a major fool I've been and what repercussions my actions have had. I have done despicable things, acting in the moment and then, after the damage was done, thinking it through. Believe me, even though I still do not know all the specifics, what I did was a disaster, a catastrophe. Now I have to live with the consequences, and, eventually, if possible, repair the damage that was done. But this will be a hard, difficult, if not impossible task.

But I must have patience, since time will help fix everything. Time is what I have, plenty of. Patience is what I am lacking. And the lack of patience is interconnected with my quick actions without much thought. Here's a chapter I must work on as well.

I really wasn't a patient person. Ever. Since I know myself, I almost always acted on the moment, and waiting has been ever so hard for me. I lost many things because of this, but I always got up, I always looked forward and continued on with my journey. Now, one of the key things I must learn to have is patience. One of the most unachievable things for me has become a priority, which I need to master, in order to achieve something. And, believe it or not, that something is not a prize, not a medal or a trophy, but the most important thing to me. When, or more importantly, if I ever win, I will be the happiest person on the face of the planet. But until then, I must work hard to achieve my goals.

And my goal is not the most important thing to me, it's not the reciprocation of my own feelings towards someone, but my own control and being a better person.

I know I have to work hard to achieve my goals, and it's much more difficult when having to repair the mistakes of the past is an active and pressing issue as well, but, I think that the two go fine together. I believe that by learning to master patience, understanding, self control, amongst others, some mistakes that I've made could be eventually corrected, and I may be forgiven.

But these are just a few of my issues, of my concerns. Hours and hours of brainstorming and trying to fill the gaps have yet to produce the required answers or the right questions. There is much more left to discover, many questions to be asked, and many answers to be uncovered.

Until then, I bid myself farewell, and, if anything, I'll keep on hoping for a better day, which has yet to come.

The Demons... (Part 1)

The last couple of weeks have been hectic, to say the least, for me. I've been in mostly total isolation for over three years, socialization and contact besides work and family has been minimal. In those years I've developed a downwards ramp of emotions and things, that have gotten me in a place that I am currently in. I've only realized this last night, when I had a drink with a friend and sat down and talked about the situation I am currently in.

The situation is dire.

I've hurt the person I love the most, and I've hurt her bad. I did unspeakable things, which include manipulation, blackmail, control and recklessness. I was not like that. Not by a long shot.

My demons have come out and my closet is full. I can't control them, not yet, but I am trying. The thing is, it's so hard to feel and, in the same time, push those feelings away.

I can't clean out my closet yet, I can't look under the bed. The monsters are there, still. I am searching for the answers I need, I am searching high and low, near and far. I am searching for a solution, for the ultimate solution, that will solve all this and make it all go away.

But it is hard. It's hard to have so many conflicts inside yourself, so many fights you have to carry out with oneself, that it's beginning to get tiring. It's hard to see a glimpse of a smile, a glimpse of anything, and not be conflicted and not think about everything that you've done wrong.

If He exists, Someone up there knows I've done many wrongs. And that Someone may or may not forgive me. But that is not whom I seek forgiveness from. I seek an answer, which can only be gotten if I ask the right question. Which leaves me asking the wrong questions over and over again. And I only keep getting the wrong answers, which eventually steer me into the wrong direction.

I was not like this.

I was better, I was higher, I was myself.

Now I am a self-destructive, catastrophe-driven, mechanized, manic-depressive shell of my former self.

Now tell me, how to repair the damage of almost four years of inner silence has done.

How to close the gaps? How to fill the holes? How to get back to my former self?

I'm in love and I can't let go. I've done despicable things to the person I love, all because I'm like this now.

I want to be better, but I don't know the question to which I need the answer to.

Maybe it's better this way, maybe we both needed a break, we both needed a moment to breathe, but the air isn't the same without her by my side. Why do I keep staring into the emptiness thinking that she's the one? Why would I think this? Why does my every action push her away? How can I change? How can I change this? How can I change the future?

Destiny has reunited us after eight years of silence. And I don't believe in destiny. I've met her before, indirectly, and then she disappeared. Then, after much time has passed, I've met her again. This time it was for real. This time it was much more than anything I could ever imagine I'd feel. I never wanted to hurt the person I care for the most. But, alas, I did.

She's everything for me. She's the air I breathe. She's the wind passing through the trees. She's the rain, she's like the sun that lights up the morning sky.

Is she the one?

I keep on staring and keep on looking, and I can't make sense of it: if she's the one, how could I have been so blind to mess everything up the way I did? If she's the one, how could I hurt her the way I did, manipulate and blackmail her the way I did? Details don't count. Only thing that counts is that I made many mistakes, and given the chance, I would probably repeat them. It's that thought that drives me crazy, and the fact that bits and pieces of things that happened elude me, my memory was black. And I can't remember some details, and it's killing me slowly.

I have to start this fight, I have to end it, I have to kill my demons, I have to clean out my closet and find the inner peace and calmness that I seek. Only then I will be able to do right by her side, eventually earning her forgiveness. That's all I seek at the moment, forgiveness. And it pains me how much is that forgiveness to ask for.

Everything I stand for and everything I am has been altered. I need to stop and find all the answers I need, and that's not gonna be easy.

But I am thankful, though, for the help I am getting from friends. I am thankful that, in my darkest hour, they stood by me and tried to help. I am thankful that, even though they disagreed with what I did, they never left my sight and stood by me, through good and bad.

I am thankful.

I am thankful that I have such amazing people to call friends, and that I can rely on them for help, whenever the moment or the hour.

I am thankful.

I am thankful that I found out what was wrong and what needs to be fixed.

I am thankful.

I am thankful I fell in love with such a wonderful person, whom just takes my breath away every time I see her.

I am thankful.

I am thankful that I earned her friendship and trust, but I was too blind to see it.

I am thankful.

I am thankful if she will give me another chance, and if I could earn forgiveness.

The rationalization of everything here has taken me a lot of time, and I was a fool for being blind. I must start with myself, clear out my head, clear everything out, step by step, and try to get better.

But that's a long and tedious process, and it will take a lot of time. Until then, I will continue to be thankful, thankful for everything that I have, thankful for the feelings I have, even though they're not reciprocated, I am thankful for her, and for everything.

My demons will not go away easily, as expected, but they MUST go, else I risk losing everything, including everything I've tried to build over the past couple of months. And that's not a risk I am willing to take.

The Nokia N8: First Impressions after 5 days of stress testing

Well, I've had the Nokia N8 for several days now, and toyed around with it quite a bit.

General

When I got the phone on Saturday, I've started toying around with it quite much. First thing I've noticed is that it had a branded TIM IT firmware. I've Googled around and found that Symbian^3 devices can't have their firmware changed simply by changing the product code and re-flashing the device --- the firmware needs to be changed by way of the Phoenix (as in, Phoenix Service Software). So I've started downloading the firmware to de-brand my device. First flashing failed, since the internal mass storage was corrupt (probably from a bad format), but the phone didn't die, so I managed to boot it up and, after formatting the mass storage, I managed to flash it successfully to the latest Nokia firmware, un-branded.

Next step were the settings, and getting used to the touchscreen. I'm coming from an N95, and a long line of Nokias before, so getting used to a touch interface is a damn pain. But I'm getting better at it as days go by.

After personalizing my phone and being comfortable with the way it looks and it sounds, I started looking for a way to hack my phone, which I finally did tonight. Until now, however, I had to manually sign all my applications with a custom-made certificate from my IMEI. Now that the phone's hacked, I can safely install any software without needing a certificate.

Other than that, the phone is behaving spectacularly. I can't say I am not impressed about this piece of work Nokia has put out. A 12 megapixel camera with a Xenon flash, with HD filming and the awesomeness of Symbian^3 --- all packed in a tiny but large enough touchscreen smartphone, with a 16 GB internal memory (and room for a 32 GB MicroSDHC expansion card).

The last thing I did tonight was to install some mods to my phone that allow me to take pictures at 100% JPEG quality, as in EYE CANDY, and film at 30 FPS in HD (25 FPS original, 720p), while the audio is being encoded at 256 kbps AAC (128 kbps original), but more on that later.

Imaging

The 12 megapixel camera that the N8 is gifted with, along with the Carl Zeiss lens and a mechanical shutter and Xenon flash for taking pictures makes this the king of pictures in the smartphone segment. At the moment, there is no other phones that surpass the Nokia N8 in regards to taking pictures, and, as expected, this device has "served" some dedicated cameras (yeah, read about it here)

The quality of the pictures is stellar, even in low light, and the focusing is done very quickly. I only took pictures with the default 65%'ish quality setting, since the quality mod wasn't installed when I took the pictures, so, sadly, I will need to take some new pics to test out the camera properly with the new quality setting.

Note: the pictures were taken at a 9mpx resolution (4000 x 2248), since I've selected a 16:9 display ratio for my pictures (12mpx would be a 4:3 ratio, and I think I will go back to that with the new mod).

Video capturing

The Nokia N8 captures videos in 720p HD, at 25 frames per second, in the mp4 container, while using AAC at 128 kbps for sound. It has a secondary microphone for noise cancellation when filming, so the sound on the video is crispy and clear (most of the times, depends a lot on the amount of noise and the room that the shooting takes place).

After the mod I applied tonight, the N8 will capture in 720p HD at 30fps (up from 25fps), and encode audio at 256 kbps AAC (up from 128), while sacrificing a little bit of bandwidth in the video section, encoding only at 9000 kbps (down from 12000 --- this is what I've read it is/was, haven't really tested yet). Also, the mod adds a Continuous Auto-Focus for filming, very good if you're filming on the move or filming moving subjects.

I've uploaded some videos of a concert I was at, of course, before the damn 30fps patch, and shot in low light (in Club Flex Arad). It seems that when zooming in on low light conditions, there quality drops drastically, but that's understandable.

While I may have to test the phone's capabilities further, I'm pretty satisfied as how good a phone can really be. And this particular phone, or smartphone, is epic.

Final Thoughts

In-between Symbian^3 (which is very good, and a major update will come in the summer [Symbian Anna]), the 12 megapixel camera, HD filming, 16GB of internal memory (expandable with an extra 32GB), 720p native movie playback on the 3.5" scratch-proof touchscreen capable of displaying 16 million colors, and a HDMI port ready to transform any LCD/TV into a touchscreen, I stand in awe of how beautiful and good this masterpiece called the N8 can be.

Nokia really outdid themselves with this device, and I am glad I've made the choice of purchasing such a great smartphone. Even if Nokia has partnered up with Microsoft and is switching OS's (switching to manufacturing phones with the Windows Phone 7 OS), they said that they will continue to push out Symbian^3 devices in the future, for at least 2 years. Also, support for Symbian^3 will continue as the OS goes through it's life cycle (as all OS's do).

Out of all the phones I fiddled with, I give the Nokia N8 a HEARTY 8/10 on the smartphone scale, only problems of the phone being that Nokia with Symbian^3 is not quite where Apple is with iOS or Google is with Android (but incremental updates may push the OS further into the right direction --- but for example, a WiFi hotspot is still not possible, even with updates), and that the battery isn't quite on par with other smartphones on the market (but it's close, trust me).

To whoever wishes to buy a good multimedia smartphone, I recommend the Nokia N8 with all my heart, especially if that person wishes to take great pictures and/or record splendid HD videos. Please read the reviews if you don't trust me personally. One thing though: GSMArena.com didn't name it's N8 review "Director of Photography" for nothing. N8 has the crown.

The New Era: Nokia N8

This Saturday, the Easter bunny came early, with Nokia's brand new, crispy and dark grey N8.

The phone packs a 12 megapixel camera, and films and plays back 720p HD movies. Other than that, the phone is gifted with a massive 16 gigs of internal memory, which can be expanded with a MicroSD HC of up to 32 gigs. The big 3.5 inch AMOLED display looks awesome, and has a 16m color range.

This phone is, at the moment, the best one to take pictures with, with some contenders with the Android OS coming up, but Nokia will release Symbian Anna (an update for Symbian^3) in the summer, which will modify the phone OS and will be tweaked and packed with updates to our favorite device.

StarCraft II: The Heart of the Swarm - Leaked Ending!

Well, I've seen the leaked ending, and now I wanna buy the game so I can see what the story will be. The ending is leaked work in progress, so don't be amazed if there's no lip syncing or fancy visuals, or if you're suddenly seeing storyboard mock-ups instead of animation. It's not complete, folks, it's a VERY early leak, so bear with me. The fact that makes me think it's legitimate, it's that the voice acting is very similar to SC2: WoL, and the video itself has disappeared off YouTube after several uploads and re-uploads, because of a Copyright Infringement claim by, guess who? *DRUMROLL* Activision!

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Well, today is the big day. Actually, tonight is the big night. Azeroth is changed forever by the dragon Deathwing, and now, in 6 hours, adventurers from all over will be able to continue their epic journey leveling up from 80 to 85, visiting new zones, completing epic quests that will blow their minds away.

I personally will be at work at 01:00 CET when Cataclysm will launch, but that's not really a problem, since there's gonna be an overflow of people in the new zones, which means that everybody will fight for and ninja mobs. I'll hop in all the fun tomorrow morning, when it's quieter, and will steadily push my way up to level 85.

Taking into account the new Archaeology profession, the Illustrious Grand Master that I have to train and level up in Jewelcrafting, Enchanting, Cooking, Fishing, Archaeology from scratch (and eventually First Aid), it's gonna be a tedious task. But helping me will be Azeroth flying, which is now possible, so everything's gonna be faster. But all-in-all it's a good thing that Cataclysm has finally hit, since the content we currently have played has been out for a year (last content patch went live Dec 9th, 2009).

So, to all my guildies who are leveling tonight: good luck, I'll catch up with you tomorrow.

Well, like the post said, this is Goodbye Hollywood! Welcome to the age of DirectX 11!

Finally, my new GPU arrived today, I won't stick it in 'till the morning, my fingers are aching, but no. I will wait until the morning.

The GPU is a brand new Gigabyte GTX 460 OC 1GB DDR5 256BITs, and it's... AWESOME!

I can hardly wait to see what it can do.

Meanwhile, I've started playing World of Wacraft again, because I'm fed up with the idiots I'm confronted with, and tired of trying to "socialize" in the 21st century (with people who left their fucking brains on the porch). Ce-mi plac pitzipoancele care nu stiu sa-si "roteasca" pozele pe Facebook si alte site-uri de socializare (din landscape in portrait sau viceversa). Au sute de poze, toate prin cluburi de impresii si in tinutele aferente, cu priviri si decolteuri optimiste, sau poze facute in oglinda, dar nu stiu sa roteasca o amarata de poza, sau sa foloseasca functia de timer a unui aparat foto sau telefon celular multimedia de ultima generate, pe care le au "de impresii".

Le-as lua pe toate de gat, le-as cocolosi, si le-as arunca de la etajul 10, sa vedem daca prostia si impresiile le fac sa planeze.

Prea multa plasticitate si elasticitate in viata de zi cu zi, si mi-e frica de cate persoane idioate intalnesc. Bai frate, daca tot vrei sa spui ceva, spune, nu te ascunde dupa deget, si/sau nu crede ca privirile tale vor da cuiva de inteles un mesaj care probabil e la fel de mare ca si o carte de Jules Verne. Si nu te mai crede atat de interesanta, ca nu esti.

Mai mult, ce-s cu ifosele si crizantemele astea, si joaca de-a "hard to get"? Un lucru cert am invatat in viata, si acela e ca toata lumea poate fi inlocuita, in absolut orice context posibil. Crezi ca esti unica si ireprosabil de perfecta? Gresit! Esti o zdreanta care se lasa privita exact asa cum merita: ca si fetele de pe traseu. Mergeti si dati-va foc, in fata la primarie, si voi fi multumit. Nu doar eu, "dar si oamenii care o duc greu din neamul meu".

Dar cel mai mult imi place ca-si plang de mila, pe Facebook de exemplu, cum ca n-au noroc in dragoste si toata lumea se foloseste de ele. Pai bai fata: baga-ti tu mintile alea putine in cap, si pune-te cu capul pe umeri. Revizuieste-ti atitudinea de superstar ca nu esti nici pe departe. Apoi, poate, cu putin noroc, vei fi tratata altfel, nu precum un servetel in care cineva si-a suflat nasul si l-a aruncat.

De cocalari... nici nu vreau sa-ncep.

My 26th Birthday: Impressions

Well, to be honest, I am deeply disappointed, and conflicted at the same time.

Some people who call themselves my friends failed to show up, moreover, they failed to even send a message or call me about their absence. On the other hand, some people who I've recently met, or haven't met at all, came, and had a good time (I hope).

Even if it wasn't a "TOTAL FAILURE", it was pretty low and pretty lame. I'm confident that there won't be a "next time" like this, since this is the last time I do a "birthday party". It's a waste of money and time, and I don't have any of those two.

I can only thank the people who didn't come but had the "courage" to call or message me about it. But enough about this.

Special spatial thank you's go out to my two friends who helped me with everything even tho I was kinda broke at the end: Alex Gal and Corifeanu Emilian. More special thanks go out to my mother, whom helped with cooking and preparing everything that was there to eat (and my cakes, yea, they weren't a lie!).

More thank you's go to the people who also came (in no particular order or logic): Andreea Varga and Cristi, Bia, Diana, Alex and his Girlfriend, Sergiu and Sonia, Sergiu Silaghi, my Sis, Bogdan, Arthur, Mucki and The Nerv & Flex Crews. Sorry if I forgot someone, I was pissed off the whole night.

In my opinion, Robin Hood (2010) is a must-see movie for all. The great acting delivered by the cast, mainly Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, is astonishing. The movie lives up to expectations, with Ridley Scott as a director. I give it a 9/10.

Mafia II - Personal Review: 8.5/10

Mafia II - An action-packed action game (with a good flavor)!

I successfully finished Mafia II today, and let me tell you: I'm impressed. And I'm not easily impressed. Overall experience: very satisfied. This game will immerse you into the unforgiving world of the Mob, with a unique style and brand of story telling and acting.

Story

The story is kind of linear and has some twists that the player doesn't expect. But all-in-all it's a good story, going from growing up in the slums to becoming a real-time gangster, despair, loss, drama, comedy, everything you could want from a game. The main character that you're playing, Vito Scaletta, starts out as a boy from Sicily, who immigrates to Empire Bay in the US, and tries to start a life there, along with his parents. Later on he starts robbing stores and finally gets caught, and sent in the Army to war. After coming back on leave because of a wound, he reunites with his family, and his friend, Joe, who arranges for him to be pardoned. They start on small-time jobs, from stealing cars to beating up people, until Vito gets caught selling Federal Gas Stamps and gets thrown into jail.
In jail, he makes a friend, who is a very influent person on the outside, and who helps reduce his sentence and gets him out of jail quicker.
Once on the outside, he starts doing jobs again, and becomes very successful at what he's doing, and, together with Joe, they go on a rampage of jobs, ranging from deliveries to 'whacking' people in broad daylight. But all is not well in Empire Bay, and the player finds out what kind of twists and turns the plot reserves for him. But that's to the player to discover, not for me to spoil (more than I did).
Overall, I give the story (including ending) an 8.
I purposely left out details because you have to play the game to get the feel of it.

Gameplay

From the way the cars feel, to the way the game runs, it's one good piece of work. The controls of the cars are simple, the feeling when driving is great, the sounds are authentic, and everything is dandy. The game runs very good on a GTS 250 (aka. nVidia 9800GTX), and can run on lower end systems. The physics are realistic, and when you shoot walls, glass or wood, they will start to break into tiny little pieces or holes will remain in walls, and rubble will fall off. It helps if you have a good GPU to get to the eye-candy.
There were some graphic glitches sometimes when driving or going into some zones (big black textureless lines), that will disappear when reloading a checkpoint or going out of that zone and coming back again.
When you get into a vehicle, you can access the radio, which has three radio stations, playing either the music of those years (1940-1950), or the news of the latest jobs you pulled. The weather effects are dazzling, and when it's snowing, raining, it feels vivid. Also, it affects the handling of the vehicles very much, the cars being a lot harder to drive on a snowy or rainy day.
There are bonus things you can collect, one of them being Playboy magazines. You can collect them, as well as artwork, and visualize them in the main menu.
With all these things in mind, I give the gameplay a big 9, because of the authenticity.

More of the review I will leave to you, the gamer, or the player, because trust me, I have to recommend this game to you.

Asta face si melodia asta, intr-un fel. Incearca sa sensibilizeze (sau sa "faca misto") de situatia noastra actuala ca popor si ca tara. Insa in afara de a indrepta degetul spre ceea ce cu totii stim, nu face nimic. Si nici nu va avea vreun efect asupra nimanui, decat a fi ascultata de cateva ori prin trecere si de a ramane o amintire.

Zilele Aradului (16-22 August 2010)

Arad - Bugetul pentru Zilele Aradului este de doar 100.000 lei dar evenimentul va fi susţinut din sponsorizări.

Viceprimarul Aradului, Geanina Pistru, a prezentat ieri programul Zilelor Aradului, finalizat tot ieri de dimineaţă. Din start, oficialul a precizat că, dată fiind situaţia actuală, bugetul manifestării a avut de suferit. Dacă anul trecut pentru sărbătoarea Aradului s-au alocat din bugetul local 500.000 lei, în acest an Primăria scoate din buget doar 100.000 lei. Totuşi, bugetul evenimentului e dublu şi ar putea creşte până la începutul propriu-zis al sărbătorii (16 august). Totul e posibil, potrivit Geaninei Pistru, datorită sponsorilor. Din sponsorizări, s-a adunat până acum 150.000 lei, dar se speră că alte firme vor da şi ele o mână de ajutor pentru reuşita acţiunii.

În pofida problemelor financiare, Primăria nu a dorit să renunţe la eveniment şi nici să taie din numărul de zile de sărbătoare. Ca atare, viceprimarul susţine că vom avea de toate în perioada 16-22 august 2010.

Spectacole de teatru, expoziţii de fotografie şi pictură, decernări de titluri şi premii, plimbări cu Săgeata Verde, cu titicarul, concerte de fanfară, o expoziţie cu trenuleţe, spectacole de marionete, conferinţe, valsuri şi petreceri pe ştrand: acesta este oferta Primăriei pentru Zilele Aradului. Punctul forte va fi dat, ca în fiecare an, de concertele de muzică populară din cartiere (Vlaicu, Alfa şi Micălaca), dar mai ales de concertul de sâmbătă de la Ştrandul Neptun. Pistru susţine că pe scena de la ştrand vor urca sâmbătă seara două formaţii italiene de muzică, dar şi Andreea Bănică şi Direcţia 5.

3.500 de euro pentru Direcţia 5

Viceprimarul nu s-a ferit să facă publice sumele pe care Primăria le va plăti artiştilor: Direcţia 5 va încasa 3.500 de euro, Andreea Bănică undeva pe la 800 euro, în timp ce formaţiile italiene nu vor fi plătite de Municipalitate, acestea venind la Arad cu ajutorul comunităţii italiene de aici.

Târg pe bulevard

De vineri, 20 august, pe Bulevardul Revoluţiei, între Teatru şi Primăria Arad, va fi organizat şi un târg de unde arădenii îşi pot achiziţiona obiecte de artizanat dar nu numai. Modul în care va fi dirijată circulaţia va fi făcut public în zilele care vor veni.

Well, today I learned a secret. A special string, more notably "& # 8 2 3 8 ;" (without spaces and without quotes) - will make browsers display all the text you write after it in reverse. Imagine that!

So if I start writing something and I want to make it look interesting, I could start like this:

How to make love to a woman?

Are you sure you have that question all figured out? I'm inclining to say "you don't" to every person who says "yes". It's more complicated than it looks, and this movie is here to tell us just that, and so much more. It's about some couples (one in particular) who are having "problems in bed" (and somewhere else on times). It's a romantic comedy with a twist. Don't just throw away and catalog as a "chick flick". It's recommended you see it with your girlfriend, or alone, and you could learn some stuff from it.

It's a pretty good movie, give it a chance, I think you won't be disappointed. If you don't LOL so much, it's not a problem, this movie shouldn't be so "ROFL" anyway.

IN THE BEGINNING…

RISE OF THE CONFEDERACY

Long ago four supercarriers loaded with political dissidents and convicts from Earth crash-landed on the distant planets of Tarsonis, Moria, and Umoja. These hardy and resourceful terrans established colonies and eventually spread to other planets. In time the largest and most technologically advanced of the colonies, Tarsonis, founded a powerful yet oppressive government called the Terran Confederacy.

A bloody rebellion ignited against the Confederacy, led by an ambitious and charismatic ex-prospector named Arcturus Mengsk.

Yet as Mengsk and his Sons of Korhal strove to liberate their terran brethren from the yoke of oppression, a far greater conflict loomed on the horizon....

FIRST CONTACT

Humanity first learned that it was not alone in the universe when a gleaming fleet of protoss warships emerged over the Confederate planet of Chau Sara and incinerated its surface without warning.
On Chau Sara’s sister planet, Mar Sara, Marshal Jim Raynor found evidence of a second alien presence. Attacks broke out across the planet, and it took the Sons of Korhal to mount any kind of organized resistance to the aliens, which had now become known as the zerg.
Jim Raynor and the rebels evacuated as many people as possible from Mar Sara before the mysterious protoss fleet reappeared and incinerated the planet. Thoroughly disillusioned with the Confederacy, Raynor joined the Sons of Korhal. On the planet of Antiga Prime, he worked with Mengsk’s second-in-command, Sarah Kerrigan– formerly an elite assassin for the Confederacy–whom Mengsk had liberated from the government’s neural conditioning. Despite a rocky start, Raynor and Kerrigan quickly formed an efficient partnership.
Mengsk stirred up a full-scale revolt against the Confederacy on Antiga Prime. He then employed a psi emitter–a Confederate-designed device that acted as a beacon for the zerg–to destroy the Confederacy’s forces. Soon afterward the protoss incinerated Antiga Prime from orbit, just as they had done to Chau Sara and Mar Sara.

THE GREAT BETRAYAL

Next Mengsk struck at Tarsonis, the capital of the Confederacy. To Kerrigan’s horror, he had psi emitters placed on the uninfested and densely populated planet. As the zerg descended on Tarsonis, Raynor began to question Mengsk’s sanity: no measure seemed too extreme for Mengsk if it achieved his goals.
This time the protoss fleet’s leader, Executor Tassadar, deployed ground forces in an effort to save the planet. Mengsk ordered Kerrigan to vanquish the protoss. Despite her misgivings, Kerrigan obeyed and ensured that the planet would fall to the zerg Swarm. Surrounded by zerg, Kerrigan called for evac.
However, in a shocking betrayal, Mengsk abandoned Kerrigan and her troops to their fate. Furious, Raynor rushed to Tarsonis in a desperate attempt to save his partner. Yet in spite of his best efforts, he arrived too late.

THE DOMINION AND THE QUEEN OF BLADES

With the destruction of Tarsonis and the collapse of the Confederacy, most terran survivors quickly pledged allegiance to the Sons of Korhal, which had become the primary military force opposing the alien invaders. As planet after planet appealed to the Sons of Korhal for aid, Mengsk announced that a new government, the Terran Dominion, was necessary to protect these worlds. Promising victory over the aliens, he declared himself emperor of the Dominion.
Meanwhile, Jim Raynor struggled with the loss of Sarah Kerrigan as he came to the full realization that he had begun to fall in love with her. Haunted by her death and the many other demons of his past, Raynor stole Mengsk’s flagship, the Hyperion, and resolved to seek justice in Kerrigan’s name.
What Raynor could not have known, was that Sarah Kerrigan was not dead. The Overmind–the supreme consciousness who controlled the zerg–had altered Kerrigan by infecting her with the zerg hyperevolutionary virus. Her subsequent evolution unlocked incredible strength and immeasurably potent psionic abilities. Ultimately she emerged as the Queen of Blades: the Overmind’s loyal servant, an extraordinary entity stripped of human ethics and morality and ruthlessly dedicated to the survival of the Swarm.
Yet the Overmind had suffered a terrible blow: Zeratul, a leader among the protoss’ estranged brethren, the dark templar, killed one of the Overmind’s cerebrates. The zerg brood formerly controlled by the slain lieutenant ran amok and turned against the rest of the Swarm, which was forced to obliterate them.
All was not lost for the zerg, however. When Zeratul killed the cerebrate, he made fleeting telepathic contact with the Overmind. In that moment, the Overmind discovered the location of the protoss homeworld of Aiur. The zerg assaulted Aiur, and although the protoss resisted valiantly, the zerg established a foothold, and the Overmind embedded itself in the planet’s surface.
Joining forces with Jim Raynor, Tassadar rallied the flagging protoss for one final push against their foes, yet protoss forces only weakened the zerg while sustaining heavy losses themselves. In a last desperate gamble, Tassadar channeled the energies of the Aiur protoss, and the outlawed energies of the dark templar through the hull of his ship, the Gantrithor, and steered the vessel on a collision course with the monstrous Overmind.
Tassadar’s brave sacrifice resulted in an explosion that killed the Overmind and threw its minions on Aiur into disarray. The protoss had little cause to rejoice, though, for much of Aiur was left in ruins. Furthermore, the Swarm as a whole was undefeated. Far away on the planet Char, Kerrigan sensed the Overmind’s death and finally grasped the true purpose of her creation. The reign of the Queen of Blades was about to begin.

The Brood War

AN UNLIKELY ALLY

Even without the Overmind, there was little doubt that the zerg would overrun the remaining protoss on Aiur. The Aiur protoss’ only hope for survival lay in escaping to the dark templar homeworld of Shakuras, where Zeratul offered to shelter the protoss refugees. It was there that the protoss were confronted by Kerrigan, who demanded to speak with the dark templar matriarch, Raszagal.
Kerrigan swore that she was no longer a merciless killer, and notified the protoss that several zerg cerebrates had merged to create a new Overmind. If this Overmind matured and gained control of the Swarm, Kerrigan warned that she would revert to the savage and cruel creature she had been. In order to prevent that from happening, Kerrigan volunteered to help the protoss fight the zerg and the new Overmind. Raszagal accepted Kerrigan’s proposition despite the reservations of Zeratul and others.
UED forces bolstered their strength further and headed to Korhal IV, capital world of the Dominion. After a fierce battle, Directorate forces laid siege to Korhal’s capital city, Augustgrad, forcing Emperor Arcturus Mengsk to contact the UED fleet requesting a parley.
The emperor’s small fleet was surrounded, but while UED forces were preparing to take Mengsk into custody, Jim Raynor arrived in Mengsk’s old battlecruiser, the Hyperion, along with a small protoss fleet. Raynor angrily made it clear that he was rescuing Mengsk only because a mutual acquaintance wanted Mengsk alive. Moments later, Raynor, his protoss allies, and Mengsk had escaped.
The UED persisted in its campaign, moving on to Char to capture the developing Overmind and, through it, seize control of the zerg. Directorate forces overcame the Overmind’s defenses and soon specially trained medics began administering powerful neurostims to pacify the organism. By then Duran had been revealed as a spy working with Kerrigan, but that discovery made little difference: the Overmind was firmly under Directorate control.

DESTRUCTION OF THE PSI DISRUPTER

The UED’s control over the new Overmind and the broods on Char gave the Directorate a decisive advantage over Kerrigan, for a weapon known as the psi disrupter prevented the Queen of Blades from controlling the zerg broods that were not yet under the Overmind’s control. Fortunately for Kerrigan, however, she had foreseen this difficulty and had acted accordingly.
Kerrigan had contacted Jim Raynor from her fortress on the planet Tarsonis. Raynor cared for her before she joined the Swarm, and she knew that on some level he still had feelings for her, even though he distrusted her. Contacting him had therefore involved minimal risk to Kerrigan, and Raynor had made the perfect ambassador between her and the protoss on Shakuras, who had not forgotten Kerrigan’s pastmanipulations. Once Raynor and the protoss had been willing to listen, she had asked them to rescue Emperor Mengsk and the battle-scarred remnants of the Dominion fleet from the UED’s assault. Galvanized by the threat of an emergent Overmind in the hands of the UED, Raynor had temporarily put aside his hatred of Mengsk and agreed to Kerrigan’s plan.
Once Raynor had rescued Mengsk, Kerrigan assured the emperor that she had no intention of killing him, for she was no longer angry at his betrayal. Victory over the UED, she maintained, was more important than petty grudges. In the course of executing their plan, the protoss grew suspicious of Kerrigan. They learned too late that their alliance with her had only helped the Queen of Blades achieve her true goal: eliminating a challenge to her rule over the Swarm. Due to the dark templar’s assistance, several dissident cerebrates were destroyed.
Kerrigan departed from Shakuras even as the horrified protoss concluded that they had no choice but to finish what they had started. Utilizing the power of an ancient xel’naga temple, the protoss successfully obliterated the zerg on Shakuras. Even so, they paid a terrible price, for the cataclysmic explosion left Shakuras a wasteland of sand dunes and shattered ruins.

THE UNITED EARTH DIRECTORATE

Unbeknownst to the terrans in the Koprulu sector, Earth had kept a long and silent watch over its far-flung colonial planets. The frightening discovery of hostile aliens managed to unite Earth as never before, leading to the formation of a new government called the United Earth Directorate (UED). When it became clear that the Koprulu colonies were losing strength, the UED’s ruling council considered it the perfect time to establish control over its distant cousins.
After monitoring zerg and protoss activity for several months, the UED was confident that it could control the zerg. By this time the UED had received word that a new Overmind had formed on the planet Char. Confident of victory, the UED dispatched an expeditionary fleet to enslave the young Overmind and use the Swarm to overthrow the Terran Dominion.
The fleet moved to secure the planet Braxis as a staging point, assaulting its capital city. The city was well defended, and progress was slow, but UED forces made contact with fighters from the Confederate Resistance Forces. Their leader, Samir Duran, explained that they had sworn to overthrow the Terran Dominion and Emperor Mengsk. These fighters volunteered to become new recruits of the UED.
With Duran’s aid, the UED soon had access to the Dominion’s primary datanet– specifically, its weapons diagnostics and other top-secret material. The UED moved on to the Dylarian shipyards, where the bulk of the Dominion’s battlecruisers were docked. Striking swiftly, the soldiers commandeered the ships for their own use and conscripted the remnants of the Dylarian defenders.
Despite Zeratul’s reservations, Raszagal convinced him that, for the sake of all protoss, he must do as Kerrigan demanded. In the end, Zeratul obeyed. The dark templar assaulted the UED forces on Char and managed to slay the Overmind along with its cerebrates. As a result, all zerg in the Koprulu sector became subject to Kerrigan’s will once more.
When the mission was completed, Kerrigan asked Raszagal if she wanted to return to her people, but the matriarch said that her only wish was to serve Kerrigan. In that moment, Zeratul realized that Kerrigan had long ago enslaved and corrupted Raszagal’s mind. After their defeat, the remains of the Directorate fleet had fled from the planet Char. Zeratul and the other dark templar circumvented Kerrigan’s defenses and rescued their matriarch.
They had yet to realize that Raszagal’s mental enslavement could not be undone. Before the dark templar could escape with Raszagal, the zerg surrounded Zeratul’s base and attacked. As Kerrigan and her minions closed in, Zeratul cursed Kerrigan bitterly and, rather than let the zerg recapture Raszagal, dealt the matriarch a mortal blow. In her last moments, she thanked him for freeing her from Kerrigan’s influence.
Ravaged by grief and guilt, Zeratul vowed he would avenge the matriarch’s fall.

A FAR GREATER POWER

Upon leaving Char, Zeratul and the dark templar investigated protoss power signatures on an uncharted moon nearby. There they found several stasis cells containing protoss and zerg. Further investigation revealed that Samir Duran was using genetic manipulation in an unholy attempt to create the hybrid: creatures with mixed zerg and protoss DNA. Most disturbing of all, however, was the fact that Duran’s attempts were proving successful.
Kerrigan explained that she wanted to use Mengsk’s psi emitters to reclaim control of additional zerg forces. She would then be able to tear down the psi disrupter, at which point she would finally stand a chance of beating the Directorate fleet. In return, she offered to help Mengsk reclaim the planet Korhal from the UED. Mengsk was free to refuse her offer, of course, but if he did, she would imprison him for the rest of his life.
Mengsk could see no other alternative, and he was enticed by the prospect of reclaiming Korhal, so he loaned Kerrigan the psi emitters. Kerrigan’s plan worked perfectly, and she destroyed the psi disrupter on Braxis. Once Kerrigan had gained control over a greater number of zerg and built up sufficient resources, she and her reluctant allies launched an assault on Korhal. The UED forces occupying the planet were overwhelmed, and Mengsk was jubilant as he retook possession of the planet. Declaring himself the emperor of the Terran Dominion once again, he set up a base of operations in Augustgrad.

BROKEN ALLIANCE

Kerrigan, having rebuilt her zerg forces and driven the UED from its primary seat of power in the Koprulu sector, decided that her allies had outlived their usefulness. Duran pointed out that if she struck now, her erstwhile allies would not be expecting an attack.
Without warning Kerrigan sent multitudes of her minions against the terran encampments. Mengsk denounced Kerrigan for her treachery. She responded that her actions were well-justified revenge, given the suffering she had undergone due to Mengsk’s betrayal on Tarsonis. As for Mengsk, she would permit him to live: she wanted him to watch her ascend to ultimate power and know that he had helped shape her into the deadly Queen of Blades.
Raynor fought courageously, but he knew a hopeless fight when he saw one. As he escaped from Korhal, he promised Kerrigan that she would pay for the lives she had taken: one day, Raynor swore, he would kill her.

FREEING RASZAGAL

Kerrigan remained determined to crush the UED forces and their enslaved Overmind. To that end, she traveled to the planet Shakuras and kidnapped the dark templar matriarch, Raszagal. Using Raszagal as leverage, Kerrigan laid out her demands.
Because only Zeratul and his people could destroy the Overmind and its cerebrates, Kerrigan made them an offer: if the dark templar killed these renegade zerg, Kerrigan would permit Raszagal to return to Shakuras.
Unmoved by Zeratul’s disgust, Duran revealed that he served a power far greater than Kerrigan and that the creation of the hybrid was the last step in a vast cycle that was approaching its end. Duran claimed that the hybrid, who were scattered on a thousand different worlds, were on the verge of completing their development, and they would change the universe forever when they awoke.

KERRIGAN’S ASCENSION

For a brief time thereafter, Kerrigan was sorely challenged. Duran had inconveniently disappeared; the orbital platform from which she watched over Char was under attack; and most of her forces were still on the planet surface. Arcturus Mengsk had scraped together a new fleet, and a gleaming armada of protoss ships from Shakuras had warped in as well. Last but not least, Directorate forces were stubbornly intent upon defeating the woman who had manipulated and humiliated them.
Yet the Queen of Blades proved to be too powerful a foe as she unleashed her full wrath upon her enemies. Facing imminent defeat, Mengsk withdrew early in the battle. He told Kerrigan to watch her back because he would be lying in wait for her, ready to strike when she inevitably made a mistake.
Nor did the forces composed of Aiur protoss and dark templar retreat without a parting word, declaring that they would never forget the death of Raszagal. They too would be watching Kerrigan. At last it became clear that the UED fleet could not hope to overcome Kerrigan at her full strength. For her amusement, Kerrigan allowed the fleet to flee in the direction of Earth, giving it a reasonable head start before she sent the Swarm after them.
Kerrigan’s forces soon overtook the UED fleet and tore it apart. Not one of the fleet’s ships would reach Earth to report the events that had taken place in the Koprulu sector.

Aftermath

The Queen of Blades has not grown complacent in the wake of her victory. She continues to keep watch over the Swarm from Char. The Brood War showed her to be more powerful than anyone could have imagined: she is truly the dominant force in the Koprulu sector.
However, for the last four years the Swarm’s initial, merciless expansion has been replaced with a foreboding silence. There is only speculation about what Kerrigan has been doing for the last four years, as no scouting expeditions to zerg-occupied planets have lived to report what they witnessed.
Many believe that the zerg are building their strength and engineering new organisms before going on the offensive again. Some contend that Kerrigan is staying her hand due to some lingering shred of humanity, but those who have encountered the savage fury of the Queen of Blades suspect that this is merely wishful thinking.
The Aiur protoss have been struggling to recover from the loss of their homeworld, while attempting to reunify their society with the dark templar living on Shakuras. It has been a difficult transition for both sides, and the name of Raszagal has been invoked more than once to keep the peace. Interacting with the dark templar and the xel’naga technology on Shakuras has also led to many new developments as the protoss prepare themselves for continuing the war with the zerg.
Memories of Raszagal have plagued Zeratul, and he was deeply disturbed by his encounter with Samir Duran. For years he kept to himself, racked with guilt and sorrow, until a valiant terran archaeologist in need of Zeratul’s aid sought him out and convinced him to emerge from his self-imposed exile. Since then, Zeratul has uncovered a revelation somehow related to the xel’naga, creators of both the zerg and the protoss. He has been seeking additional clues to unravel the mystery.
Arcturus Mengsk and his forces initially returned to Korhal to regroup. His first order of business was to rebuild the Terran Dominion. In Kerrigan he has found a new target for revenge. The Dominion has risen once again to become the most powerful force among the terran factions, having taken over almost all of the original Confederate worlds.
The UED expeditionary fleet was shattered during the Brood War and now only a few isolated pockets of survivors remain hidden in the Koprulu sector. Jim Raynor has led a resistance movement known as Raynor’s Raiders against the spreading power of the Dominion, but over the years it has been a losing battle. Arcturus Mengsk has used his greatest weapons–the media and propaganda–to marginalize Raynor’s efforts. Now Raynor seems to be losing faith, drinking heavily and haunted by the ghosts of his past.
Those who know Jim Raynor best have been saying that there is one part of him that won’t rest until Sarah Kerrigan is dead... ...and another part of him that refuses to let her go.

Today I got two new speakers. The model is Technics SB-CD320! The bass speakers are custom and replaced from the original, being kevlar speakers. 'Tis a nice upgrade from the original.

So now, I got a total power of 200 Watts (Sinus)/400 Watts (Musical) in my room. That's pretty damn nice!

In his latest movie, "From Paris With Love", he plays the role of a ruthless yet funny secret agent/spy, sent to France to stop a terrorist attack. The movie is good, and it keeps you entertained from start till end.

Facelifting and Gaming

After a much-needed domain name, my blog has had a face-lifting done.

I have chosen a new style/template and customized everything accordingly. Too bad I was stupid enough to miss that AdBlock will block out the customization of my AdSense campaigns, and I was trying to remove them erratically, without luck, resorting to the final step: basic HTML editing of the template itself and removing the widget via code.

Oh well, everybody learns. Now when I edit my blog I'll always disable AdBlock. It's a good addon for Firefox, but it blocks most things out, even when you tell it not to.

Keep on reading for next week there will be some more season finales I will write about, and hopefully, they will be good.

Other than that, I will go back to playing Borderlands and Team Fortress 2. I've bought the latter, since it's worth paying 16 euros for it. It's worth supporting most game developers (like Valve for example), if they don't get greedy and start to sell everything that last year was "exclusive" (yea, I'm talking about you, Blizzard Entertainment!).

I'll probably shoot some StarCraft 2 BETA up this weekend also, the AI's floating around the net (especially SC2in1 bundled AI) kick my ass on medium difficulty. Now that's a shame, since I used to be such a good StarCraft player. In my opinion Blizzard beefed this game up too much in some parts, and for example, the Thor unit, with it's Arnold Schwarzenegger wannabe lines, is a complete failure at being a viable and worthwhile unit (I'm referring to the fact that it shouldn't be in the game at all, along with some other units). But hey, I'm not Blizzard, oh, *cough*, excuse me, Activision Blizzard, the greedy money-hungry-after-a-merger game maker.

Update KB971033 - Windows Activation Technologies

Today, Microsoft has released a Windows Update named numbered KB971033, which updates the Microsoft Windows Activation Technologies to detect hacks and cracks that activate Windows without a legit license.

Many users who were receiving their Windows Updates and auto-installing them, were left with this:

While uninstalling this little patch is easy enough, once your system is flagged as not being genuine, you will get some nagging:

"The background wallpaper will change to black. You can set it back to whatever you want, but once an hour or so it will reset again to black. Various “nag” notifications will appear at intervals to “remind” you that your system has been tagged as a likely pirate and offering you the opportunity to “come clean” — becoming authorized and legitimate by buying a new Windows 7 license. Some of these nags will be windows that appear at boot or login time, others will appear frequently (perhaps every 20 minutes or so) as main screen windows and taskbar popup notices."

If this is the case, you can do something that will save your Windows installation and help you avoid a reinstall. Search for New Windows 7 Activator [2010] [blaze69], Windows Activator Hazar Torrent (Also known has RemoveWAT2.25) or Windows Activator Daz Torrent (Latest version 1.7.7), with Google.

While making sure your antivirus is on and running, make sure you don't get infected with something. Just activate Windows via one of the tools from above and you're done. You can sit out your remaining Windows 7 days without problems.

Well, as the title says, I've completed upgrading my PC again, this time, it's for good. (Well, I am satisfied with what I got!).

This list took a huge time to acquire, but in the end it was worth it.

I am one of the lucky persons who were able to unlock the Phenom X2 into Phenom X4, and so, with a lot of saving I am the proud owner of a very cheap, stable, Quad Core CPU. So stable, that I am writing this while stressing my CPU with Prime95, all 4 cores, and with the max load, temp is 52 degrees celsius at the moment. It won't go higher, stays between 52 and 53 degrees.

A good investment, some time to gather all the money, and setting your mind in the right direction is the key if you want something.

Ok, let's continue to this posts' topic:

What media player do you prefer? I myself use two, BSPlayer and Media Player Classic. It's debatable which one's better, and it shouldn't be fair to put one against the other, since one is Free, and one is Commercial. But, since nothing in life is fair, let's see the PROS and CONS I have about both players (there are more than those I will mention, but I am only mentioning the ones I have problems with or like).

BSPlayer (Shareware):

Pros:
- A lot of features that can make it a good media player, but that's the only thing I like.
Cons:
- It can get a bit hoggy for lower-end PC's, and that's bad. You don't want people to whine about your software not running on lower-end PC's just because it's bloated (aka. you're not Norton Antivirus).
- Settings sometimes don't get saved, and you will sometimes constantly switch subtitle sizes for different movie formats - that's a renderer problem I think, and if I select one size for the subtitles of an 720p release, then switch to a regular Xvid release, the subtitles will clog all my screen. See, the renderer sets the size of the subtitles taking into consideration the resolution of the movie. So at font size 36, a subtitle looking good on a 720p release, will look HUGE, ENORMOUS on a regular Xvid release.
- The Windows Vista/7 renderer is crap. - It's true. On Windows XP systems, the overlay renderer was rendering the movies flawlessly, and you could watch an Xvid release without having to see pixels and pixels of video info on higher resolutions. The default (and only available) renderer on Windows Vista/7 fails at rendering Xvid lower-res movies the way it should, so a movie MIGHT become unwatchable if you're a HD freak like me - for example. Yeah, I like eye-candy. Sue me.

Moving on to Media Player Classic (also known as MPC, and it's freeware)

Pros:
- It's free! - Yea, that's a MAJOR pro. Developers update it in their own spare time, and since Microsoft went and elevated and bloated their Media Player so much, some guys just took the Windows 98 style media player and action-packed it full of nifty features and fixes, so it can even play rich HD content without a problem.
- Lots of internal decoding filters (audio/video codecs). - You name it! From AVI to DTS, from Matroska to Flac, from FLV to RealMedia, the video sources supported by MPC is astonishing. And that's not all! The internal codecs supported by MPC is a big one, also. It has AAC, AC3, DTS, LPCM, Vorbis, FLAC, RealAudio, to name a few audio codecs incorporated, and DivX, Xvid, FLV, VP5/6, WMV 1/2/3, VC1, RealVideo, H264/AVC, and H263 to name some video codecs included.
- Lots of Shaders that can be selected when a movie is playing. - Yeah, these are video effects to enhance the picture that is displayed. Ranging from sharpen, emboss, deinterlace, grayscale, letterbox, emboss, invert, denoise - you name it - MPC has lots, and supports external filters. Also, the processing is done in realtime, and has little effect on the decoding of the movie.

Cons:
- Some setting changes require a restart. - Don't really need to explain myself here.
- Sometimes the image is too dark. - As opposed to BSplayer which brightens the image a little bit, MPC tends to go to normalize it, and display it "as is", resulting in no black portions on both the top and bottom of your monitor for a wide screen movie, since, MPC's black is *THE* black - but not everyone may like how movies really look or the normal contrast that is applied.
- Many of the settings require a more advanced knowledge. - Yes, some settings will require you to "know your shit" if you wanna attempt to change them without breaking the damn thing. But once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to set up and use MPC.

Media Player Classic / MPC

There are two versions of this piece of software going around.

Media Player Classic - Original, developed by Gabest - No longer being developed.
Media Player Classic Home Cinema - It's the up-to-date player, that I recommend.

With it's action packed arsenal of nifty features and support, MPC gets my pie every time. It still outperforms BSplayer even if it hasn't been updated for some time. Everything you may want from a Media Player used to play movies with is in MPC. BSplayer is too bloated to be efficient. MPC is right on the spot.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it! (And yes, I've tried both, and I use MPC since I first tried it and saw what it's capable of.)

If you liked Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1 and 2 (which, by the way, is getting a 3rd part), Reservoir Dogs, Sin City, or if you like Quentin Tarantino or his style, this is a must-see. As a fan of his work and his vision on the movies he makes, I'm amazed at another very good movie.

His doing is unique, and his involvement in every movie he directs/writes is obvious. It takes a good eye to see every little detail a Quentin Tarantino movie has. And there are alot of details in this here movie.

I recommend this movie to everyone who has a stomach for seeing a quality Tarantino flick. If in doubt, check out the other titles and convince yourself that Tarantino movies are unique AND, for some, must be seen. It's well worth your time.

Enough boring you.

Inglorious Basterds delivers. Period. 9/10.

Work done:

Youtube broadcasted this concert at 1500 kbps bitrate. There were some technical problems, that's why the intro song is missing, and some buffering problems at the beginning. All in all it was a good concert, but YouTube took the liberty of not letting some people watch (from certain countries). That's just lame.

Anyway, I've beefed up the video to 2500 kbps and added some filters to make the entire video more appealing to the eyes. It's a 8.5/10 720p release, since it's been capped from the web, and we all know web video has it's downsides.

AIMP / Foobar

Today I've decided to write about a new Audio Player I have stumbled upon while browsing the web.

It's called AIMP, it's freeware, and it does a lot of stuff.
It can do whatever Winamp does (without the ability to play Video files, and without the secksee Milkdrop plugin - for Winamp visualisations there's a wrapper on the forums). I don't see anything else wrong with it. It supports skins, visualizations (integrated into the player/fullscreen), and loads more file formats and features. Also, compared to Winamp 5, which is "shareware", it consumes a lot LESS memory/CPU. You can try it out anytime by visiting http://www.aimp.ru/index.php?do=lang-en/. You may have a hard time downloading the player, since the forum's mainly russian, but a simple Google search will give you loads of download links to choose from.

The player is currently in it's 2.60 RC3 state, but the sound offered, the features, the light-weight and everything is a pro. Check it out, http://www.aimp.ru/index.php?do=lang-en.

ALSO, please make sure to find and download AIMP Tools. They offer the functionality of alot of non-free utilities. The AIMP tools consist of AIMP Converter and Recorder. They do just what their name says. The Converter can convert/transcode a video/audio file into another format, whilst the Recorder can record into various audio formats via an imput source (mic/line/stereo mix).

AMD Athlon64 X2 7750: Surprise-In-A-Box

Read this first, then read the edit!

Well, I couldn't stay away and keep me fingers relaxed... until now.

Presenting: AMD Athlon X2 7750 (NON-Black Edition), stable overclock (from 2.7 GHz to... 3.1 GHz!) - stock voltage+0.05 volts for CPU and stock voltage for RAM. Considering that my CPU is an Ex-Phenom (with two cores disabled), it's nice. Too bad it's not a BE and I have a crappy motherboard, because I could unlock the other two cores and maybe be lucky enough for them to be stable.

But fear not, all's not lost. It's just stalling.

EDIT, after 30 minutes

After surfing thru AMD's website and checking stuff, I decided to see my CPU specs.

All was fine and dandy until I searched for the model. Apparently, AMD has released TWO IDENTICAL CPUs branded 7750, one of which was the Black Edition (Unlocked Multiplier). Well now, I first searched for my 7750 by selecting the model. Page loads, AMD says "Black Edition: Yes". I tought something was wrong at first. I pushed back on my browser, selected "Black Edition: No" from the sorting list, and guess what, there was no 7750. Well now, that was odd.

After having overclocked the CPU to a dandy 3.1 GHz (that's 400MHz overclock), I decided to test the theory that I may be a lucky son of a bitch to have a Black Edition CPU. I rebooted the computer, hoped that the multiplier options in the BIOS would go above 13.5 but they didn't. So I selected x13 multiplier and put a 231 FSB (which would equal 3003 MHz). If my CPU will turn out NOT to be a Black Edition CPU, then all I would get is my initial 3.1GHz overclock, plus/minus some megahurtz.

Here goes nothing. With the setup above (FSB/Multiplier), I save my BIOS and reboot. As soon as the PC passes POST, I push "Del" like a fat kid who sees candy, very eager for the result. I go to my CPU Info in bios, and guess what. GUESS WHAT.

That proved it. I R HAZ A BLAXOR EDITION CPU!

After that, I couldn't resist NOT cranking up the stuff more.

I've modified the Multiplier back to x13.5 (highest), and modified the FSB to 237. Saved the bios, hoping my RAM would bare with me, and crossed fingers. POST, "Del", CPU Info: TA-DA! 3199 MHz. I overclocked this son of a bitch by 0.5 GHz.

The system is stable, the voltage is the same as the last overclock, so now I have a 3.2GHz Black Edition BADASS X2 Athlon CPU. I will do some stability tests, but I think the setup is rock solid.

There are only TWO black edition CPUs on the B3 stepping, one of which was released very recently, with AMD's 40 Year Anniversary. The other one's mine.

On another note, if I would have another motherboard, I may be able to unlock the other two disabled cores from the originally PHENOM cpu (which was made into this one and codenamed Kuma). But I'll settle for this gigantic overclock for now!

ALSO, I managed to raise my Windows Experience Index (CPU-wise) to 6.5 from 6.1. That's huge! No rly, it's damn huge.

Well, as the title says, the Upgrade is complete.
The system's pretty stable now that the new memory has arrived.
No reboots since I've installed them in place, that's a nice relief.
Turned out that the dimms Clau gave me (GEIL Black Dragons) had a minimal voltage req. of 2.0v, and my mobo can supply a maximum of 1.95v. Well, let me tell you, 0.5 volts is a lot to "not" have.

Well, after much struggle and much consideration, and a failure, I am finally able to say "here comes the sun" - at least for me it does.

I have managed to upgrade my computer, and am awaiting the final components as we speak.

I just pray to God it will work once everything's plugged in. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Next step will be going further to AM3 or whatever AMD will cook up, but for now, it's a very nice and welcome boost.

Well, everyone's playing Farmville, one of Facebook's most addictive and fun games around.

It's built in Flash, it has it's kinks, but it's fun to play and very nice all-around.

The game is a MMO-style Browser Based RPG'ish thingie.

You're a farmer. You have a farm. Build stuff, plant stuff, get XP, get money, get more XP, get more money, level up, recruit friends to be your neighbors for being able to upgrade your farm (the bigger the better!). You start out with a 10x10 or 12x12 farm, and move on from that. You plant, you harvest, you plow, rinse, repeat.

Anyway, on the same subject, I stumbled upon a little excel spreadsheet that someone made, and I tried to perfect it. So here it is, version 0.2, available for download. It tells you kind of everything you need to know about what to plant and so on in Farmville, what profit you get, etc.

Auzi neamule, manca-ti-as cartile tale de romana, a ajuns Andreea Esca in manualul de istorie alternativa...sau continua, nu stiu sigur ca niciodata nu le-am avut cu electricitatea (si cred ca si aia de la AC/DC la fel, din moment ce nu s-au hotarat la numele formatiei) si nu ajunge ei manelistii in manualele de literatura romana?! Poi sa poate asa ceva?!.. Uite daca nu poate profesorii de literatura sa bage comentariu la manele, le dam noi comentariul gata facut. Ei numai sa-l pune in carte sa invata si copiii ceva adevarat, pupa-le-as io portofelele pline cu banii da la parinti!...

Comentariu literar

Inca din primele versuri, autorul plaseaza actiunea intr-un mediu feeric, minunat, unicat si fara pereche.

Ce miracol si ce vraja
Stau cu gagica/gagiul pe plaja

Prin folosirea cuvintelor "miracol" si "vraja", poetul ne trimite intr-o lume magica, sublima, interzisa muritorilor de rand, ca cine mai e ca ei sa-si permita sa mearga pe plaja de la Marea Neagra?!... Efectul este completat de plasarea celor doi protagonisti pe plaja – trimitere directa la infinitul marii,al nisipului, care ar putea sugera si iubirea nesfarsita, dar si eternitatea...Asta in primele trei luni!... Nisipul ne duce cu gandul la scurgerea timpului, sau la scurgere in general, autorul reusind astfel sa imbine, prin folosirea unui singur cuvant, atat infinitul cat si perenul.
In urmatoarele doua versuri, poetul doreste sa impace relativa bipolaritate dintre infinit si peren.

Am chef de distractie
3 luni de senzatie !

Constient de clipa fermecata pe care o traieste, autorul isi avertizeaza ascultatorul (cititorul) ca iubirea nesfarsita, dragostea profunda, infinitul, alfa si omega, arde intens, asemeni razelor unei zile insorite de vara, comprimandu-se in "3 luni de senzatie", nu mai mult!...Ca ce e mult, strica, sau nu mai e necesar si te si plictiseste!... Necuprinsul, adicatelea infinitul, este asfel incadrat in limite foarte bine delimitate - trei luni – iar profunzimea sentimentelor umane imbraca forma senzatiilor mai mult sau mai putin tari, depinde in ce loc si parte a zilei te afli la mare....si cu cine.
Iubirea magica nu are suisuri sau coborasuri. Poate doar suisuri, dar de la brau in jos si asta din cand in cand, ca chiar daca traim in era tehnologiei avansate, nu s-a inventat inca omul bionic...
Asa cum spune si poetul, cuvintele de ordine in cazul unei asemenea iubiri sunt cheful si distractia alaturi de gagiu sau gagica (deocamdata inca nu e lamurita partea asta, avand in vedere inflatia de transexuali si de “parandarati” ce au aparut ca ciupercile dupa ploaie, de parca astia nu s-ar inmulti ca toata lumea, o data la 9 luni, ci mai repede si in numar mai mare!), simbolizand dorinta suprema a oricarei fiinte, restul viselor si dorintelor fiind neimportante, lipsite de esenta si in general, de-a-mboulea.
Folosirea cuvintelor nu este deloc intamplatoare. Ele curge in ton cu muzica, ca sa dea bine la coada versurilor, alegerea lor facandu-se dupa reguli extrem de bine stabilite de autorul lor, reguli ce sunt foarte bine ferite de ochii lingvistilor si academicienilor, mancale-ar ciorile din traista, oameni fara suflet si fara pic de sentiment, ce nu ne lasa pe noi sa traim in pace si sa facem gologani, fara taxe si impozite, asa cum vrea muschii nostri, la nunti/botezuri/inmormantari/parastase si alte evenimente de-astea mondene la care suntem invitati, fara voia noastra!
Elementele de argou "gagiul", "gagica" vin sa sugereze faptul ca cel care vorbeste este un om asemeni noua, care insa, conform preceptului biblic, si-a pus in valoare, talantii, reusind sa patrunda intr-o lume de vis....sau de vise negre....Ma rog, fiecare cum viseaza.
A doua strofa a cantecului descrie opulenta de care se bucura eroul.

Dau o cheie la mertan
Si am plecat pe litoral
Mi-am pus plinul de benzina
Si in dreapta o blondina

Autorul nu specifica ce fel de cheie da la “mertan”, insa banuim ca nu e vorba de o cheie reglabila sau una franceza si nici de-o cheie de la portile puscariei Jilava (Ptiu, fereasca Al Mare de apropierea cu locu’ cu pricina!). "Mertan"-ul face trimitere la stilul de viata al marilor padisahi. Folosirea expresiei "plinul de benzina" nu este deloc intamplatoare, fiind in stransa legatura cu afacerile cu petrol pe care padisahii le au, in general, fapt ce denota si dorinta eroului nostru de a face parte din randurile acestora. Dorinta pe care vrea sa si-o transpuna in practica prin interpretari de “esceptie” (manca-ti-as arcusul tau da la contrabas!), simtind ca poseda un talent cum rar se poate intalni in domeniul artelor “orale”, adica prin transmitere din gura in gura si din mana in mana, “pana-n fund la taxatoare”, cum bine spunea un predecesor care se referea la cumpararea unui bilet de troleibuz...Aceasta dorinta ilustreaza verticalitatea convingerilor personajului principal. El nu opereaza cu jumatati de masura. El nu opereaza in general, cu nimic.Totul sau nimic pare a fi deviza dupa care se conduce, alta necunoscand si neintentionand sa invete...sau sa inteleaga, dar asta e alt comentariu.
Notiunea "plin", are si un sens metaforic. Ea prezinta maturitatea dragostei dintre cei doi, care tind spre perfectiune (adica el-metan, bani si chef de distractie, ea-frumoasa, plancturoasa si...cam atat). Acest lucru este confirmat si de termenii cu care este descrisa marea iubire, de trei luni, a personajului nostru. Fata cu care se iubeste eroul principal nu este o fata oarecare. Ea este o "blondina" - simbol al frumusetii feminine, asezate la dreapta barbatului, fiindca in stanga ar fi depasit cadrul masinii si ar fi trecut in alt registru cu alta indeletnicire, fiind asezata pe trotuar. Afirmatia este intarita in versul al doilea din cea de a treia strofa.

Am mertanul de mult timp
Si-o blondina prototip
E a mea numai a mea
Si-mi petrec vara cu ea.

Faptul ca are "mertanul de mult timp" nu este tocmai o fala pentru personajul principal, fiindca, in categoria sociala de unde transcende erou nostru, acum se poata "mertane" ultimul ragnet. Nu-i asa, frateM.L.-eu?!...Acest fapt ne duce cu gandul la faptul ca, ori eroul nostru este un personaj retro cu aspecte clare si sanatoase privind calitatea (bleah,oare?!), ori nu are suficient banet incat sa "intre in randul lumii" si sa-si ia un mertan nou. Aceasta ultima varianta ne face sa ne gandim daca nu cumva eroul merge la mare sa completeze suma, sau sa faca rost de ea pentru achizitia unei masini noi, impreuna cu blondina?!...In fine...
Hiperbola "blondina prototip" descrie in profunzime calitatile greu de egalat ale iubitei, ea fiind o fiinta unica. Prin folosirea unui termen tehnic pentru a-si descrie iubita – "prototip" – autorul ne reaminteste ca dragostea lui este asemeni tinuturilor exotice, fascinante dar inca neexplorate in profunzime (?!), afirmatia fiind intarita si de plasarea povestii in anotimpul de vara. Asta ca sa nu mai vorbim de reclama si marketingul pe care i-l face, voalat si mascat, stie el de ce...
Ultima strofa descrie actul de iubire dintre cei doi. In primele doua versuri, ne este prezentata atmosfera care domneste intre indragostiti.

Marea Neagra e calduta
Blonda-i sexy si finuta

Iubirea se consuma in apa calda a marii. Cat de calda, numai ei doi stiu, fiindca nimeni si nimic pe lumea asta nu poate sa le masoare gradul de excitatie (nervoasa, la ce mama dracului v-oti gandi cand citit un comentariu literar?!) si inaltimea culmilor sentimentelor care ii cotropesc pe amandoi in acele momente de vis. Sau poate ca acum e momentul in care au descoperit apa un pic mai calda decat apa de la fantana!...Cristalinul marii descrie sentimentele celor doi iar caldura apei descrie relatia dintre ei. Dragostea dintre cei doi este imuna la scurgerea timpului:

Ziua stau cu ea la soare
Noaptea o scot la plimbare

Succesiunea zi-noapte nu poate perturba trairile profunde alte tinerilor indragostiti, mai ales ale lui, ca el e cel care ne povesteste, dar autorul lasa o portita de iesire din aceasta idila aproape perfecta. Folosirea termenului "noaptea" din ultimul vers avertizeaza cititorul ca totul poate fi perfectibil, chiar si iubirea, iar daca peste iubirea dintre cei doi s-ar lasa intunericul, eroul va trece si peste acest obstacol. Sau cu atat mai mult ca l-ar ajuta intunericul...Este vorba doar de trei luni de distractie, in fond.

Ha, n-a ca l-am terminat! Acu' sa vad care dintre profe sau profi da romana are curaju' sa dea nota mica la o asemenea superbitate da comentariu, ca va halesc ca pa lebedele alea austriece!

Max Payne & Games - Update - 23.07.2008

Well, visiting IMDB today I searched for a movie I've been wanting to watch, and it seems IMDB has got news about it. The movie is "Max Payne", made after a 2-series PC Game which was one of the most successful games of it's time and genre. The "Max Payne 1" game from July, 2001 has received a 9.2 GameSpot rating, and an "Editor's Choice" award. Two years later, "Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne" got released for the PC, in October, 2003. It received a 9.0 rating on GameSpot and got another "Editor's Choice" award.

The good news are plenty:

1. October 17th, 2008 (if it won't be changed) will be the premiere of the "Max Payne" motion picture, starring Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne.

2. They're coming out with another Max Payne game, "Max Payne 3 - Working Title", on which GameSpot doesn't have much info, besides that it's being worked on.

3. If we are still talking about video games, "experts", "gaming sites" and so on think that "StarCraft 2" will be released by the end of this year, meaning October 'till December 2008. We surely hope so, or at least, I for one do. Other sites "say" that the release date is 26.09.2008. We'll just have to wait and see.

4. Surely, if you're a gamer, you should try the following game: "Portal" (c) Valve, the makers of Half Life. Here's a little trailer to keep you occupied. Give it a try, it's addictive and one of the "smartest" games I've ever played. It also has a 9.0 rating on GameSpot and an "Editor's Choice" award.
